  • WHY DIRECT CARE?

The current health system is broken. The traditional health care model buries doctors in busy work, promotes fragmented care, and neglects the role of overall health and wellness. I created a direct care dermatology practice so that I can put the health of my patients first.

WHAT IS A DIRECT CARE PRACTICE?

Each year additional complex rules and mandates are imposed on our healthcare system, creating more obstacles to delivering care and creating less time in the exam room with patients. Medicine has become impersonal and automated much like an assembly line.

Direct care is a return to a medical care model that puts the doctor-patient relationship first by eliminating the burdensome rules and regulations created by insurance networks. All services must be paid in full at the time of service. Prices for all services are 100% transparent and available before the rendering of services.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO DIRECT CARE?

    There are many:

-All patients are welcome, regardless of insurance status.

-Shorter wait times. Oftentimes, same week or next week appointments are available. We utilize longer appointment times to allow for personalized care.

-You will always see Dr. Jackson, a board-certified dermatologist who will provide customized care determined by her expertise,  not dictated by your insurance plan. Experience Dr. Jackson’s personalized care combining medical dermatology, skincare, and lifestyle strategies to achieve overall skin wellness.

-Transparent pricing may afford a less expensive visit for those with high-deductible plans and high co-pays. You will know the cost of your visit up front and you will not be surprised by bills that come weeks or months later.

-Less stress.  Whether your visit is medical or cosmetic, Dr. Jackson can take care of you without worrying about what is or is not covered by insurance.

-Virtual appointments are available for convenience when appropriate.

-Our practice is intentionally small allowing us to offer the level of care and compassion that you deserve.

-For patients with insurance, use your benefits or HSA/FSA funds for medically necessary pathology, lab work, and prescriptions.

CAN I SUBMIT MY BILL TO INSURANCE FOR REIMBURSEMENT?

Yes. Upon request and a nominal fee for administrative time, we will provide you with a coded receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Since we are not contracted with any insurers, we are "out-of-network" on all insurance plans. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance plan to determine if you will be reimbursed for out-of-network expenses. Government insurances such as Medicare and Medicaid do not allow a claim to be submitted.

Please note, that while we are willing to provide insurance billing codes upon request, we do not guarantee reimbursement and will not communicate with your insurance carrier or benefits manager.

     IS DIRECT DERMATOLOGY CARE AFFORDABLE?

Appraising the value of our healthcare experience is very personal and different for each individual. At Skin Wellness Dermatology Associates, we focus on providing education, access, and a community to support healthier skin for a lifetime. Transparency in our fee schedule helps each individual make an informed decision about what fits into their healthcare value system.

    A few things to consider:

*In the traditional insurance-based reimbursement system, the simple question, "How much will this cost?", can be impossible to answer given the complexity of filing claims, denials, deductibles, co-insurance ... and the list goes on! At Skin Wellness Dermatology Associates, all costs are transparent and available on our website.

*Skin Wellness Dermatology Associates accepts health spending and flex spending account payments for medically necessary services. Patients with high deductible plans often benefit from the direct care model given inflated and itemized insurance billing and "add-on" fees, such as facility fees, which are prevalent across the healthcare system.

*Pathology testing and lab work are not performed in-house and patients may utilize their insurance (with the exception of Medicare HMOs) to pay for any necessary labs or pathology ordered during your visit.

*Skin Wellness Dermatology Associate offers a compounded medication formulary and other cost-saving options to get you the most affordable pricing on prescription medications.

    WHAT ABOUT COSMETIC SERVICES?

Cosmetic services have a separate fee schedule. A cosmetic consultation with Dr. Jackson is required prior to any cosmetic procedure. During your cosmetic consultation, Dr. Jackson will discuss your cosmetic concerns, examine you, review your treatment options, develop a customized treatment plan and provide you with fee quotations for recommended services.  As always, payment is due at the time of service.

  • New Patients: If you are brand new to our office, please call and allow our front desk concierge to assist you with selecting the appointment type that best suits your needs. We require a $100 deposit at the time of booking to reserve your appointment. This charge will be applied to your account on the day of your appointment.

Convenient online scheduling is available for return patients (coming soon). For those who wish to schedule by phone, our staff is available to assist you in your scheduling needs. If you do not see an appointment time that fits your needs, please call us so that we may find an appointment that works best for you.

No show or late cancellation will result in the forfeiture of your appointment reservation fee. We require two business days’ notice for cancellation or rescheduling.

A cosmetic consultation is required for first-time cosmetic patients. Some procedures (toxin, laser hair removal, chemical peel) may be performed on the same day if time allows.

Deposits: Longer procedure appointments (cosmetic/surgical procedures) must be made by phone or in the office and require a 25% deposit to reserve your appointment time block, however, you will be notified of this at the time of booking.

Credit card on file: A credit card will be stored in our secure processing system at the time of scheduling. Your card will only be charged for no-shows, late cancellations, and deposits.

Payment options: Health savings (HSA) and flex spending accounts (FSA) can be used for non-cosmetic services. We accept cash, debit cards, Health Savings Account cards (HSA), Flex Spending Account cards (FSA), Visa, Master card, Discover and care credit. We do not accept personal checks.
